Cynophobia is a child's morbid fear of dogs. Some children are so terrified of dogs that they may go to school in blacked out cars, never go on holiday or the park, they may jump into a road to get away from a dog and worse.

We run classes on Monday evenings and we have amazing results with our specially trained and qualified Cynophobia Assistant Dogs. The evening is completelky free. Contact Janet on 01622 842209

Dog Training Classes

Classes meet on Wednesday evenings, 6.30pm in Kingswood Village Hall and run throughout the evening. We start our evening with a class for our very young puppies. That class is followed by a class for the older beginner dogs. We also run the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme awards of Bronze, Silver and Gold.

We pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere. The emphasis is that both handlers and dogs enjoy the evening. We use reward based training methods, which we believe allows the dogs to learn quickly and without stress.

Janet Tandy runs the school and has qualifications with the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers. Janet is also a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor.

For details contact Janet on 01622 842209. If anyone would like to come along on a Wednesday evening to sit and watch they will be made most welcome.

Royal British Legion

The Leeds Hollingbourne & District Branch of the Royal British Legion was formed as the Leeds and Broomfield Branch in 1933. In the early 1950’s Hollingbourne Branch folded up and the few members joined the Leeds branch. In February 1989, Bearsted & Thurnham Branch folded up and the few members joined the renamed Leeds Hollingbourne & District Branch.

We now cover the large area of Leeds, Broomfield, part of Kingswood, Hollingbourne, Bearsted & Thurnham. We have 63 members and we welcome new members who do not have to be ex-service. We raise money for recognised Legion charities, normally about £1000/year on top of the Poppy Appeal where we collected about £12,000 in 2006. We organise the Poppy Appeal every year for this large area.

We have a branch meeting in Hollingbourne village hall and Leeds Church Tower Room the first Tuesday in the month at 8pm as follows:- February, April, June, August and October in Leeds; March, May, July, November and December in Hollingbourne. For more details, please contact Mr JL White, Fox Cottage, Upper Street, Leeds, Maidstone ME17 1RX, telephone 01622 861430.
